Jaguar F-Pace (2016-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Great to drive | High running costs with V8 models |
| Good standard equipment | Poor interior quality on pre-facelift cars |
| Roomy and practical | Firm ride, especially on larger wheels |
Quick Summary
The Jaguar F-Pace (2016-present) is Jaguar's first SUV and a performance-focused entry into the competitive midsize premium SUV market. Launched in 2016, it combines sharp styling, responsive handling, and advanced technology with a diverse engine line-up ranging from economical diesels to a thrilling supercharged V8. The F-Pace delivers the agile, engaging driving experience associated with Jaguar's sports cars whilst maintaining practicality and comfort for family use. With over 600 litres of boot space on most versions and well-appointed interiors, it offers genuine versatility without compromising on driving enjoyment.
A comprehensive facelift in 2021 significantly improved the F-Pace's interior quality and infotainment system, bringing it in line with the best in the class. The Pivi Pro touchscreen is intuitive and responsive, whilst materials and build quality are now noticeably plusher. Engine options have evolved considerably, with current models offering efficient diesels, responsive petrols, and a plug-in hybrid variant. The SVR V8 variant provides an exciting alternative to rivals like the Porsche Macan. However, running costs vary significantly depending on engine choice, and the firm ride may not suit all buyers. Later examples represent better value due to the improvements made during the model's life.
Best for: Drivers seeking a premium SUV with engaging handling, families wanting a roomy and practical car, and those who value good standard equipment and technology.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising maximum comfort over sportiness, those concerned about high running costs with larger engines, or those seeking the absolute best interior quality at the lowest price point.

The Verdict
You should buy the F-Pace if: You want a premium SUV with engaging handling, need a roomy and practical family car, or value good standard equipment and modern technology.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise maximum comfort over sportiness, are concerned about high running costs with larger engines, or seek the absolute best interior quality at the lowest price point.
Competitive Position: The Jaguar F-Pace is a strong contender in the midsize premium SUV market, offering genuinely engaging driving dynamics that set it apart from more conservative rivals. Whilst the BMW X3 edges ahead on expert rating and overall score, the F-Pace matches it on user satisfaction and offers superior driving engagement. It competes well with the Audi Q5 on practicality and equipment, and significantly outperforms the Alfa Romeo Stelvio across all metrics. The F-Pace's key strength lies in its ability to deliver a car you want to drive as much as need to own, combined with excellent space and a diverse engine line-up. Later post-facelift examples represent particularly strong value, offering much-improved interior quality and infotainment systems that rival the best in class.

Overall, owners of the Jaguar F-PACE appreciate its comfort, performance, and reliable handling across various model years. They particularly like the responsive steering and spacious interior, enhanced by features like panoramic roofs. What people say
This is an excellent car with every conceivable extra, Heated steering wheel, Heated windscreen, Heated seats front and rear, Cooled front seats. Adaptive Cruise Control, Proximity Alert, 360 Degree cameras, Panoramic Sunroof with electric sliding blind, Quality stereo with Apple Play and Android, Memory electric seats, ambient lighting. There is nothing missing from this car. I know this because I bought it!
I have never driven another car that is as responsive as the jaguar and the quality of finish is superb
Comparing to E-Pace same year 2020 similar model the trim level isnt as nice. It feels less luxurious. However its still pure class. And the glass roof makes traveling in the back so nice. Mpg in the 2lt diesel version averages mid 40s mpg. Its a solid capable large car. The E-Pace was a really nice car to drive and look at however boot space was lacking and I was forever getting battery issues.
I love the cars features and the Jaguar heritage it's a very Happy place to be. I also think it's great value for money. I was initially looking at the Audi Q5 series of SUV but the small boot and unreliability issues put me off.
The z portfolio is a luxury car at a sensible price. Good for both long distance and local shopping visits. Good room for 4/5 adults and plenty of space in the boot.
