Yes the car was good value. It has the added advantage of having a retractable towbar which if we had chosen a different model would have cost us another £3000 to have one fitted. Hence the reason we bought it.

Range Rover Sport (2022-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Fantastically luxurious interior | Question marks over brand reliability |
| Great to drive on and off road | No seven-seat option |
| Impressive EV range for PHEV models | Higher-spec models are very pricey |
Quick Summary
The Range Rover Sport (2022-present) is a world-class luxury SUV that combines modern styling with exceptional refinement and versatility. Based on JLR's MLA-Flex platform, this third-generation model offers a lavish interior with premium materials, advanced technology, and impressive practicality. With 647 litres of boot space and limousine-like rear legroom, it caters to those seeking comfort and sophistication. The adaptive air suspension delivers a supple ride, whilst the responsive handling belies its substantial size, making it genuinely enjoyable to drive on both road and off-road terrain.
Engine options span diesel mild-hybrids, petrol plug-in hybrids with up to 71.5 miles of electric-only range, and powerful V8 variants. The plug-in hybrid models offer an excellent balance of performance and efficiency, whilst the diesel engines provide refinement and responsiveness at a lower cost. Every model comes well-equipped as standard, including 20-inch alloys, leather upholstery, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems. However, running costs are predictably high, and reliability concerns persist despite improvements in this generation. Four-wheel steering is only available on pricier trims, which feels restrictive given the premium positioning.
Best for: Luxury-focused buyers seeking a refined, capable SUV with impressive technology and comfort; those wanting a plug-in hybrid with genuine electric range; drivers who value on and off-road capability with premium refinement.
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers; those requiring a seven-seat option; buyers prioritising brand reliability; those seeking four-wheel steering as standard across all trims.

| Range Rover Sport | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 31.9% | 4.5/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the Range Rover Sport if: You prioritise luxury, refinement, and advanced technology; you want a plug-in hybrid with impressive electric range; you value on and off-road capability with premium comfort and style.
Consider alternatives if: You require a seven-seat option, prioritise brand reliability, need four-wheel steering as standard, or are budget-conscious about running costs.
Competitive Position: The Range Rover Sport is a compelling choice in the luxury SUV segment, offering exceptional interior quality, engaging driving dynamics, and impressive versatility. Whilst the BMW X5 edges ahead on expert rating and the Porsche Cayenne excels in user satisfaction, the Range Rover Sport delivers a unique blend of on and off-road capability with unmatched luxury. Its plug-in hybrid options provide genuine electric range, and strong residual values help offset the premium purchase price. However, durability concerns and higher running costs mean it's best suited to buyers who value refinement and capability above all else.
