Being 84 and somewhat disabled, I have reduced my driving considerably. I like the simplicity and smallness of the Peugeot 107. I need the 5-door version because I cannot lift the shopping out of the boot. I had no longer use the keypad magic, preferring a manual lock.

Peugeot 107 (2005-2014) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Simple to drive and easy to park | Lots of wind and road noise at speed |
| Very cheap to buy and run | Jerky 2-Tronic automatic |
| Perky looks | Entry-level cars are very basic |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot 107 (2005-2014) is an entry-level city car that prioritises low running costs and reliability over frills. Sharing its robust engine and transmission with the Toyota Aygo and Citroën C1, the 107 is a dependable small car that rarely lets you down. Its compact dimensions make it ideal for urban driving, whilst the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine delivers surprising agility despite producing just 68bhp. The car is surprisingly comfortable and includes all the kit you're likely to need, with official fuel economy of 61.4mpg and later models achieving 65mpg.
Practicality is limited, with just 139-litres of boot space and tight rear seating, though folding seatbacks increase capacity to 751-litres. The engine note is distinctive and road noise is elevated at motorway speeds, but the light steering and planted handling make it fun in town. Running costs are exceptionally low, with vehicle excise duty capped at £30, insurance groups between 3 and 5, and servicing under £100 for interim work. Thousands of examples are available on used car forecourts, offering excellent value for budget-conscious buyers.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers, first-time car owners, urban commuters, and those seeking minimal running costs and insurance premiums.
Not ideal for: Families needing spacious rear seating or boot space, motorway commuters sensitive to noise, or buyers seeking premium badge appeal or advanced technology.

| Peugeot 107 | 3/5 | 4.5/5 | 33.7% | 4.0/5 |

| Skoda Citigo | 5/5 | 4.0/5 | 34.4% | 4.3/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the 107 if: You're a budget-conscious buyer, first-time car owner, urban commuter, or seeking minimal running costs and insurance premiums.
Consider alternatives if: You need spacious rear seating or boot space, are a motorway commuter sensitive to noise, or require premium badge appeal or advanced technology.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot 107 (2005-2014) is an excellent value proposition in the budget city car segment, offering exceptional affordability and low running costs. Whilst the Skoda Citigo edges ahead with a higher expert rating and overall score, the 107 remains highly competitive for buyers prioritising economy and simplicity. The Fiat 500 and Seat Mii hold their value better, but the 107's shared Toyota engineering ensures reliability and dependability. For those seeking the cheapest entry into motoring with minimal insurance and fuel costs, the 107 is a sensible and practical choice, particularly when sourced from the thousands available on used car forecourts.
