The only thing I can fault on this amazing machine is the Bluetooth media player occasionally doesnt connect but it just gives you another reason to wind down the windows and listen to the symphony produced by Porsches amazing 4.8 GTS V8

Drives well, good fuel economy for the weight considering it’s petrol powered. Rather rapid, very well built.

Porsche Cayenne (2023-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Brilliant to drive | Expensive to buy and run |
| Tremendous performance | Options quickly push up the price further |
| Spacious and practical | Smaller Porsche Macan is more agile |
Quick Summary
The Porsche Cayenne is a very talented upmarket SUV that combines family practicality with genuine driving thrills. This third-generation model, launched in 2017 and heavily updated in 2023, features a new platform, modern styling, and a fresh engine lineup. It's lighter than its predecessor despite being slightly larger, with a roomier interior and a larger 772-litre boot (expanding to 1,708 litres with rear seats folded). The range includes turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engines, V8 performance models, and plug-in hybrid E-Hybrid variants, with the Turbo E-Hybrid producing a mighty 729bhp and achieving 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds.
What sets the Cayenne apart is its ability to deliver the space and comfort of a large SUV whilst maintaining engaging driving dynamics. Despite weighing as much as a modest semi-detached house, it dives into corners with impressive poise and control, thanks to quick steering, strong grip, and Porsche's advanced chassis technology. The cabin features a fully digital 12.6-inch curved instrument panel, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, and optional 10.9-inch passenger display. Plug-in hybrid models offer up to 48 miles of electric range, making them sensible for company-car users and those with shorter commutes. Running costs are high, with petrol models returning 24-26mpg and attracting expensive VED rates, but strong residual values help offset ownership expenses.
Best for: Buyers seeking a high-performance luxury SUV that genuinely rewards driving engagement, families requiring space and practicality, and those who value a broad range of powertrain options including plug-in hybrid technology.
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers or those prioritising low running costs, drivers wanting maximum agility (the smaller Porsche Macan is more nimble), or those seeking the most luxurious interior for the money.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Porsche Cayenne | 4/5 | 5.0/5 | 36.8% | 4.4/5 |

| BMW X5 | 5/5 | 4.4/5 | 37.7% | 4.6/5 |
| Bentley Bentayga | 4/5 | 5.0/5 | 31.3% | 4.2/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Cayenne if: You seek a high-performance luxury SUV that genuinely rewards driving engagement, require space and practicality for family life, or value a broad range of powertrain options including plug-in hybrid technology.
Consider alternatives if: You are budget-conscious or prioritising low running costs, seeking maximum agility, or wanting the most luxurious interior for the money.
Competitive Position: The Porsche Cayenne is one of the best-driving large SUVs available, combining family practicality with genuine sporting appeal. Whilst the Range Rover Sport offers slightly better value and the BMW X5 scores higher with experts, the Cayenne's engaging driving dynamics and broad powertrain range set it apart. The Bentley Bentayga provides ultimate luxury but at greater expense. The Cayenne's real strength lies in its ability to deliver performance and refinement without sacrificing practicality, making it the standout choice for drivers who refuse to compromise on engagement. If size is a concern, the smaller Porsche Macan offers similar driving thrills in a more agile package.
