Certainly showing no signs of age other than slightly clunky graphics on the control screen. Great fun to drive.

I dont think theres anything to find fault with. Its a well-thought out car. As a family we do big drives up and down and across the UK. A 12-hour journey is a common occurrence, the key to which is ensuring the teenagers/young adults are comfortable. There are other family SUVs available that would do the job, but frankly having what may be referred to as a premium vehicle does not interest me, the Kodiaq does it all very well and has all the ride quality of a vehicle that is far more expensive. So far, so good.

Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Exceptional interior space and practicality | Interior quality feels less premium than the previous model |
| Available in petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid configurations | Ride comfort is compromised at low speeds, especially on larger wheels |
| Competitive pricing for a seven-seater SUV | Plug-in hybrid not available with seven seats |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a highly practical and spacious large family SUV that excels in delivering comfort, value, and versatility. The second-generation model offers exceptional interior space with up to 910 litres of boot capacity in five-seater form, or flexible seven-seat configurations with 845 litres with all seats in place. It comes with a choice of powertrains: a 1.5-litre TSI petrol with mild hybrid technology producing 148bhp, a 2.0-litre TDI diesel available in 148bhp or 190bhp all-wheel-drive variants, or a plug-in hybrid combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor offering around 60 miles of real-world electric range. The range-topping vRS variant features a 261bhp turbocharged petrol engine with four-wheel drive.
The Kodiaq is well-equipped across all trims with modern technology including a 13.0-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and comprehensive storage solutions. Whilst it may not offer the premium feel of rivals such as the Volkswagen Tiguan or Hyundai Santa Fe, or the dynamic edge of sportier alternatives, the Kodiaq delivers excellent practicality and competitive pricing. Fuel economy ranges from around 40mpg for the petrol to 46mpg for the diesel, with the plug-in hybrid ideal for regular charging. Running costs are reasonable, though most models exceed the £40,000 threshold for premium car tax. The optional adaptive suspension (DCC) significantly improves ride quality, particularly on larger wheels.
Best for: Families needing spacious seven-seat accommodation, those seeking practical and versatile SUV transport, buyers prioritising value for money, and company car drivers considering the plug-in hybrid option.
Not ideal for: Buyers seeking premium interior materials, those prioritising dynamic driving characteristics, or those unable to regularly charge a plug-in hybrid model.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Skoda Kodiaq | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 33.3% | 4.4/5 |

| Hyundai Santa Fe | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 32.5% | 4.4/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Kodiaq if: You need spacious seven-seat accommodation, seek practical and versatile SUV transport, prioritise value for money, or are a company car driver considering the plug-in hybrid option.
Consider alternatives if: You desire premium interior materials, prioritise dynamic driving characteristics, or cannot regularly charge a plug-in hybrid model.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a strong contender in the large family SUV market, offering exceptional practicality, spacious accommodation, and competitive pricing. Whilst the Kia Sorento edges ahead with a five-star expert rating and the Nissan X-Trail scores marginally higher with users, the Kodiaq remains an excellent choice for families seeking versatility and value. It may not match the premium feel of rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan or Hyundai Santa Fe, or the dynamic edge of sportier alternatives, but its combination of space, flexibility, and affordability makes it a highly sensible and practical option for most buyers.
