The second-generation Toyota Prius is synonymous with the term hybrid and is by far the world’s best-selling hybrid car. It’s what’s known as a full hybrid, so is powered by both a petrol engine and an electric motor, sometimes working in tandem, sometimes individually: for city driving it can be driven short distances in zero-emissions electric-only mode. Amongst owners it’s something of a cult car.
