2025 Kia EV4: styling

The EV4 has a similarly futuristic look to other Kia EV models, with echoes of the EV3, EV6 and EV9. As with those cars, Kia has used a few tricks to reduce wind resistance and maximise battery range. As well as a low front end without a traditional grille, there are 'Active Air Flaps' in the front bumper, flush door handles and an underside that's almost completely (84%, Kia says) covered to optimise airflow.

Two body styles are available – a five-door hatchback and four-door 'Fastback' saloon. The hatchback has a comparatively conventional hatchback look, but there are chunky black wheelarch trims and a window line that sweeps up and over the roof that give it a hint of SUV ruggedness.

2025 Kia EV4: dimensions

An overall length of 4,430mm makes the EV4 hatchback 105mm (about four inches) longer than the previous Kia Ceed hatchback, and it's also slightly wider and taller. The EV4 doesn't replace the Ceed, however – it has been superseded by the all-new, petrol-powered Kia K4 which arrives in showrooms in early 2026 with a starting price of £25,995.

2025 Kia EV4 Fastback: styling and dimensions

The Kia EV4 Fastback is identical to the EV4 hatchback to the end of the rear doors but has extended, more sloping bodywork behind that. With a total length of 4,730mm it's 279mm (almost a foot) longer than the EV4 hatchback and 10mm longer than a car that's an obvious rival for it: the Tesla Model 3.

Kia EV4 saloon exterior rear Like the Model 3, the EV4 saloon has a 'fastback'-style rear rather than a traditional 'three-box' saloon profile. Look closely and you can see that the boot lid opens below – rather than at the top of - the rear window.

2025 Kia EV4: interior design and practicality

Inside, the EV4 has the kind of minimalist design and tech-forward focus we’ve come to expect from Kia. The interior layout is very similar to the EV3’s, with a two-tone dashboard and a widescreen display that incorporates a central touchscreen and a digital driver display. A central module incorporating air vents, shortcut buttons for the infotainment system and rocker switches to adjust the climate control appears all-but-identical to the one used in the EV3.

Kia EV4 boot Available tech features include over-the-air updates and two ‘vehicle modes’ that can be used when stationary. Rest Mode features a ‘mood lamp to create a serene and peaceful atmosphere’ and front seats that recline to create a makeshift bed; Theatre Mode utilises the widescreen display for entertainment, with the availability of YouTube and Netflix streaming services. There’s also Kia AI Assistant, a voice control system powered by ChatGPT that Kia says allows you to ‘converse naturally’ with it to control various features, get information and even play games and quizzes.

Kia EV4 rear seats Interior space is very generous thanks to the fact that the EV4 has a longer wheelbase than the roomy EV3, as well as a flat floor behind the front seats. Available convenience features include a front centre armrest that can be flipped backwards to be used as a table for those in the rear seats.

Boot space is slightly down on the EV3, but a capacity of 435 litres for the hatchback is well ahead of the Ceed (395 litres) and electric rivals such as the MG 4 (363 litres) and Volkswagen ID.3 (385 litres). The saloon version is larger still, with a capacity of 490 litres.

2025 Kia EV4: motors, batteries and dynamics

The EV4 uses the same electric drivetrain as the EV3, so every version has front-wheel drive and a 150kw (201bhp) electric motor, with a choice of two batteries. The 58.3kWh battery option gives a maximum official range of 273 miles, while the larger, 81.4kWh battery gives a maximum range of 388 miles – 13 miles more than the longest-range EV3.

Although Kia's larger EV6 and EV9 models offer ultra-rapid charging thanks to their 800V electrical architecture, the EV4 has a 400V system so it doesn't offer such rapid charging. The 58kWh version can charge at 100kW, which allows it to get from 10 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes, while the 81kWh model has a peak charging speed of 135kW. Those speeds are disappointing for a new model introduced in 2025.

2025 Kia EV4: price and release date

The Kia EV4 is available to order now. Prices start at £34,695 and rise to £46,295, with the Fastback costing £1500 more than the equivalent hatchback model. The hatchback, which is likely to be the most popular version, is priced roughly on a par with Volkswagen ID.3 models with comparable power and range. Like-for-like the EV4 hatchback costs £890-£1,690 more than the equivalent EV3, although the entry-level GT-Line model actually costs £10 less.

As with most Kia models, the EV4 is unusually well-equipped. Entry-level Air trim includes features such as LED headlights, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. GT-Line trim adds extra including larger alloy wheels, sportier styling details, artificial leather upholstery and electric driver's seat adjustment. Top-spec GT-Line S cars are lavishly equipped, with features such as headed outer rear seats, a powered tailgate, Harman Kardon audio system and a head-up display.

All models have a range of driver assistance features, including a forward collision avoidance system, lane-keep assistance function and blind-spot/rear cross-traffic alert systems.
