Fully loaded and fun to drive. Good value for what you get. Interior quality not up to European equivalents but engine and gear box a real peach. Condensation in the front and rear lights annoying though.

Ford Puma SUV Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very practical, especially the big boot | Rear headroom could be more generous |
| Generous standard equipment | Short new-car warranty |
| Choice of petrol and electric versions | Some electric rivals offer longer ranges |
Quick Summary
The Ford Puma is a compact SUV that has become the UK's best-selling car, combining style, practicality and driving enjoyment in equal measure. At 4.2 metres long, it competes with rivals like the Hyundai Kona and Nissan Juke, but stands out for its exceptional boot space of 456 litres, which rivals larger vehicles. The clever MegaBox compartment beneath the boot floor adds 80 litres of waterproof storage, whilst the electric Puma Gen-E features an even larger GigaBox with 145 litres. Despite its supermini roots, the Puma delivers crisp handling and lively driving dynamics, making it genuinely fun to drive whether you choose the standard 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol or the sporty ST variant.
The Puma offers excellent value with competitive pricing well below £40,000 and generous standard equipment across all trim levels. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine achieves 48-52mpg in real-world driving, whilst the electric Gen-E provides 233 miles of range and includes five years of free servicing through Ford's Power Promise scheme. With a 2025 facelift bringing a larger 12.0-inch touchscreen, upgraded materials and the addition of the Gen-E model, the Puma remains one of the strongest all-rounders in the compact SUV class, offering practicality, efficiency and driving enjoyment without premium pricing.
Best for: Families seeking a practical, fun-to-drive compact SUV with excellent boot space, budget-conscious buyers wanting generous equipment, and those considering an affordable electric vehicle option.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising maximum rear headroom, those requiring an extended new-car warranty, or drivers needing the longest electric range available in the class.

The Verdict
You should buy the Puma if: You're seeking a practical, fun-to-drive compact SUV with excellent boot space, want generous standard equipment at competitive prices, or are considering an affordable electric vehicle option.
Consider alternatives if: You require maximum rear headroom, need an extended new-car warranty, or prioritise the longest electric range available in the class.
Competitive Position: The Ford Puma stands out as the clear leader in the compact SUV segment, earning a perfect 5 out of 5 expert rating and 5.0 user rating. Whilst rivals like the Nissan Juke and Hyundai Kona offer worthy alternatives, the Puma's combination of exceptional practicality, generous equipment, lively handling and choice of petrol or electric powertrains make it the strongest all-rounder. Its status as the UK's best-selling car is well deserved, offering superior value and driving enjoyment compared to competitors, particularly for families and budget-conscious buyers seeking a versatile, efficient and genuinely fun compact SUV.
