Immaculate and perfect. Better than my previous CRV. However the knobs and whistles take a while to get used to.

Honda CR-V (2026) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Efficient hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains | Rivals are cheaper to buy |
| Very roomy interior | Hybrid is noisy when accelerating hard |
| Big and practical boot | Infotainment now lags behind best in class |
Quick Summary
The Honda CR-V is one of the most recognisable nameplates in the SUV market, and this sixth-generation model is longer, wider, and more spacious than its predecessor. Available exclusively as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, the CR-V combines a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with two electric motors for smooth, efficient power delivery. The plug-in hybrid offers up to 50 miles of electric-only range, whilst the standard hybrid delivers a respectable 42.2mpg. Both models feature a commanding driving position, excellent interior space with 579–617 litres of boot capacity, and rear seats that slide fore and aft by up to 19cm to balance legroom and luggage space.
The CR-V is fully equipped as standard, with the entry-level Elegance trim including heated leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone climate control. The infotainment system features a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, though it lags slightly behind the best in class. Whilst the ride and handling are comfort-oriented rather than sporty, the CR-V excels as a practical, dependable family SUV. The plug-in hybrid's low CO2 emissions of 18g/km make it particularly attractive for company car drivers, whilst the standard hybrid suits mixed driving patterns well.
Best for: Families seeking a spacious, practical, and well-equipped SUV; company car drivers (especially the plug-in hybrid); and those prioritising comfort and efficiency over driving excitement.
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking the cheapest option in the class; drivers wanting a sporty, engaging driving experience; or those requiring seven seats.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honda CR-V | 4/5 | 4.3/5 | 32.8% | 4.4/5 |
| BMW X3 | 4/5 | 4.4/5 | 37.9% | 4.4/5 |
| Skoda Kodiaq | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 37.0% | 4.4/5 |
| Toyota RAV4 | 4/5 | 4.7/5 | 33.9% | 4.3/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the CR-V if: You're seeking a spacious, practical, and well-equipped family SUV, prioritising comfort and efficiency, or a company car driver attracted by the plug-in hybrid's low emissions.
Consider alternatives if: You're on a tight budget, want the cheapest option in the class, desire a sporty driving experience, or require seven seats.
Competitive Position: The Honda CR-V is a solid contender in the premium family SUV segment, offering excellent practicality, efficiency, and standard equipment. Whilst it commands a higher price than some rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Skoda Kodiaq, the CR-V's spacious interior, advanced hybrid technology, and comprehensive specification justify the investment. The plug-in hybrid variant is particularly compelling for company car drivers seeking low emissions. However, it doesn't quite match the premium feel of the BMW X3 or the seven-seat versatility of the Skoda Kodiaq. For families prioritising comfort, space, and dependability over driving excitement, the CR-V remains an excellent choice.
