Quick Summary
The Mitsubishi L200 Series 6 is a capable and stylish pickup truck that represents a comprehensive update to its predecessor. Launched in 2019, it features striking modern styling with a distinctive front end and is predominantly available as a double-cab with four doors and seating for five. The Series 6 prioritises comfort and refinement whilst maintaining practicality, with a maximum payload of 1080kg and a 3.5-tonne towing capacity. Although Mitsubishi has withdrawn from the UK market, the company continues to provide servicing, warranty support, and aftersales care, making it a sensible used purchase.
The L200 is powered by a single 2268cc turbodiesel engine producing 148bhp and 295lb ft of torque, available with either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The manual achieves 32.1mpg on the combined cycle, whilst the automatic returns 29.1mpg. Whilst not the most powerful pickup in its class, the engine is strong enough for most tasks and offers good fuel efficiency. The L200 is easier to manoeuvre in urban environments than larger rivals thanks to its compact dimensions and tight turning circle. Six trim levels are available, ranging from the basic 4Life to the well-equipped Barbarian X, with higher specifications offering Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, heated leather seats, and comprehensive driver assistance systems.
Best for: Buyers seeking a stylish, fuel-efficient pickup that's easier to drive in town, those wanting comprehensive standard equipment on higher trims, and drivers prioritising comfort and refinement over raw power.
Not ideal for: Those requiring maximum payload or load bed space, buyers needing the most powerful engine available, or those seeking the cheapest pickup option on the market.

The Verdict
You should buy the L200 if: You want a stylish, fuel-efficient pickup that's easier to drive in town, desire comprehensive standard equipment on higher trims, or prioritise comfort and refinement over raw power.
Consider alternatives if: You require maximum payload or load bed space, need the most powerful engine available, or are seeking the cheapest pickup option on the market.
Competitive Position: The Mitsubishi L200 (2020-2021) is a capable pickup that offers style, efficiency, and urban manoeuvrability. Whilst it doesn't match rivals like the Ford Ranger for power or load bed dimensions, its fuel-efficient diesel engine, comprehensive standard equipment on higher trims, and compact dimensions make it an attractive proposition for buyers prioritising comfort and ease of driving. The L200's keen pricing and continued manufacturer support provide additional reassurance as a used purchase. However, the Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-Max offer stronger performance credentials, whilst the Nissan Navara provides a well-rounded alternative in the competitive pickup segment.
