Nissan Micra (2025-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Great to drive | Lacks the Renault 5's wow factor |
| Smart interior | Citroën e-C3 has a more spacious boot |
| Comfortable ride | Rear doors could open wider |
Quick Summary
The Nissan Micra (2025-present) is a stylish, battery electric vehicle that marks a significant departure from the brand's petrol-powered heritage. Based on the same platform as the acclaimed Renault 5, this sixth-generation Micra combines cute retro-inspired styling with modern electric performance. Available with either a 40kWh or 52kWh lithium battery, it delivers a WLTP range of up to 192 or 253 miles respectively. The 52kWh variant offers 152bhp, achieving 0-62mph in 8.0 seconds, whilst the smaller battery provides 121bhp with a 9.0-second sprint. With a 326-litre boot and three trim levels (Engage, Advance, and Evolve), it offers practicality for a small car, though the boot layout isn't quite as refined as some competitors.
The Micra excels in driving dynamics, featuring a compliant yet controlled suspension, precise steering, and an innovative three-level brake regeneration system with steering wheel paddles—a feature absent from the Renault 5. The smart interior includes a large touchscreen with Google Maps integration, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and optional heated seats across the range. Running costs are competitive for an electric vehicle, with real-world range estimated at 170-230 miles from the 52kWh model. However, the Micra faces stiff competition from the Renault 5's superior styling and rivals like the Hyundai Inster's radical design and interior versatility. Success will depend on competitive pricing and finance options.
Best for: Buyers seeking a fun, comfortable, and practical small electric vehicle with excellent driving dynamics and modern technology at an accessible price point.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising bold styling (like the Renault 5), maximum boot versatility (like the Citroën e-C3), or traditional petrol engine options.

The Verdict
You should buy the Micra if: You want a fun, comfortable, and practical small electric vehicle with excellent driving dynamics, modern technology, and competitive pricing.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise bold styling, maximum boot versatility, or require a traditional petrol engine option.
Competitive Position: The Nissan Micra (2025-present) is a strong contender in the small electric vehicle market, offering engaging driving dynamics, a smart interior, and a comfortable ride. Whilst it shares its platform with the Renault 5, the Micra differentiates itself with superior brake regeneration technology and optional heated seats on mid-spec trims. However, it faces formidable competition from the Renault 5's superior styling appeal and the Fiat Grande Panda's higher user ratings. The Micra's success will hinge on competitive pricing and attractive finance options to tempt buyers away from more visually distinctive rivals. For those prioritising driving enjoyment and practicality over bold design, the Micra represents an excellent choice in its class.

The Nissan Micra is praised for its affordability and suitability for new drivers, with many owners appreciating its ease of use and compact size for city parking. Reviewers often highlight its great design and efficient fuel economy, making it a budget-friendly choice. However, some drivers express a desire for more features and competitiveness against rival options like Hyundai. Overall, the Micra tends to be well-loved for its playful nature and practical design, though it may lack some modern amenities.

What people say
Great car - easy to run and inexpensive to keep going
Quality car at an affordable price. Just the right car for a new driver like me.
In the past I have had two Nissan Micra cars. They were both the best cars for me. Easy to drive, easy to service, easy to park and a delight to drive. Maybe they were designed for women drivers?m looking for a Mica electric, which will be the last car I drive before handing in my driving gloves just for the sheep joy and independence it would give me before I am too old to drive. I would like to thank Nissan for the pleasure I had with the ones I once owned.
It’s a great car superbly designed to please everyone
Love my automatic so easy to drive, great service
