Pity it is not available new. 3.5 tonnes towing, in a smaller build size, like the D21 had, would sell well with farmers, the one I have purchased is plenty big enough, bordering on clumsy, but there are not many options, Ford are unreliable engines, Toyota out priced, Isuzu unreliable and expensive repairs, will not have another!

Nissan Navara (2014-2022) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Large load bed and generous payload | Apple CarPlay and Android Auto weren't available before 2019 facelift |
| More car-like to drive than most pick-ups | The SsangYong Musso has a longer warranty |
| Punchy and fuel-efficient diesel engine | Not as wieldy as a conventional SUV |
Quick Summary
The Nissan Navara (2014-2022) is a highly capable pick-up truck that has become increasingly popular in the UK thanks to favourable tax treatment. Available in both double-cab and king-cab configurations, it offers impressive practicality with generous payloads of up to 1,315kg and towing capacity of 3,500kg. The standout feature is its coil-spring rear suspension, which delivers a more car-like ride than traditional leaf-spring rivals, whilst still handling substantial loads. The punchy 2.3-litre diesel engine is available in 161bhp or 187bhp variants, producing 313lb ft or 332lb ft of torque respectively, making it more powerful than many competitors whilst maintaining excellent fuel economy of up to 46.3mpg.
Running costs are highly competitive, with fuel efficiency among the best in the pick-up class and lengthy service intervals keeping maintenance expenses low. The 2019 facelift brought improvements including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. With a Euro NCAP safety rating of four out of five and autonomous emergency braking on higher specifications, the Navara combines practicality with modern safety features. As an all-rounder, it's difficult to beat, offering a sensible balance of capability, comfort, and affordability for both commercial and personal use.
Best for: Commercial users and private buyers seeking a capable, fuel-efficient pick-up with generous payload and towing capacity, and those prioritising low running costs and car-like driving dynamics.
Not ideal for: Buyers requiring the longest warranty periods, those seeking maximum off-road prowess, or drivers who prefer the manoeuvrability of a conventional SUV.

The Verdict
You should buy the Navara if: You need a capable, fuel-efficient pick-up with generous payload and towing capacity, prioritise low running costs, or seek car-like driving dynamics in a commercial vehicle.
Consider alternatives if: You require the longest warranty periods, seek maximum off-road capability, or prefer the manoeuvrability of a conventional SUV.
Competitive Position: The Nissan Navara (2014-2022) is a well-rounded pick-up truck that stands out for its exceptional fuel efficiency, car-like handling, and generous payload capacity. Whilst the Ford Ranger edges ahead in user ratings and the Mitsubishi L200 offers slightly better value, the Navara's combination of punchy performance, low running costs, and practical design makes it a compelling choice for both commercial and private buyers. The Volkswagen Amarok offers more power but at the expense of fuel economy. As an all-rounder, the Navara remains difficult to beat in the pick-up segment.
