Really liking this car so far, it’s exactly what I was looking for and the hybrid side I’m actually surprised about.

Love the Peugout 308 nice to drive, nice interior. Good value for money for the age of the car and mileage. Handles well on country roads.

It’s a very comfortable, safe and secure vehicle for all type of driver and age. I would never change it for any other model in its category. I would sell it only because I live in Italy now and the steering wheel is on the right side.

This was the gti 260 registered 30/12/20. The 3rd Id owned in just over 2 years, great performance car, well equipped & fully loaded as standard, beautiful interior & lovely supporting sports seats. A real wolf in sheeps clothing, comfortable economic & fun to drive.... Will probably buy another!!

Peugeot 308 Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| High-tech interior | Rivals offer better practicality |
| Wide range of engines | Quirky driving position won't suit everybody |
| Affordable running costs | Choppy low-speed ride |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot 308 is a stylish and broadly defined family hatchback that offers an appealing blend of common sense and desirability. Available as a hatchback or estate (SW), it features a high-tech, minimalist interior with a plush cabin that feels classy and modern. The car is offered with a choice of electric, petrol-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or diesel powertrains, providing genuine flexibility for different driving needs. With 412 litres of boot space in standard models and up to 599 litres in the estate, it offers reasonable practicality, though rivals provide more space overall.
The 308 delivers a pleasant driving experience with keen steering response and a darty feel through corners, though the unconventional small steering wheel and minimalist dashboard layout may not suit everyone. Running costs are competitive, with the hybrid achieving 48.5-62.6mpg and the plug-in hybrid managing 106.9-148.1mpg in official tests. Service plans are affordable from around £8 to £26 per month depending on duration and powertrain. Overall, it's a classier and more recommendable choice than ever, offering good value compared to rivals like the Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia.
Best for: Buyers seeking a stylish, well-equipped family hatchback with modern technology, those wanting flexibility in powertrain choice, and drivers comfortable with an unconventional driving position.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising maximum practicality, drivers who dislike small steering wheels or screen-focused interfaces, or those seeking the sharpest handling dynamics.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peugeot 308 | 3/5 | 4.9/5 | 37.3% | 4.2/5 |
| Vauxhall Astra | 3/5 | 4.0/5 | 31.8% | 4.2/5 |
| Volkswagen Golf | 4/5 | 4.7/5 | 34.3% | 4.4/5 |
| Skoda Octavia | 5/5 | 4.6/5 | 31.4% | 4.5/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the 308 if: You value stylish design and modern technology, want flexibility in powertrain choice, and appreciate a well-appointed, plush interior.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise maximum practicality, prefer conventional driving positions, or seek the sharpest handling and performance.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot 308 is a strong contender in the family hatchback segment, offering distinctive styling, high-tech features, and genuine powertrain flexibility that rivals struggle to match. Whilst the Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia score higher on expert ratings and offer superior practicality, the 308 delivers better value with competitive running costs and a more desirable interior. The Vauxhall Astra is cheaper but lacks the 308's premium feel. For buyers seeking style, technology, and choice without premium pricing, the 308 is an excellent choice, though those prioritising space and handling may prefer alternatives.
