Love the Peugout 308 nice to drive, nice interior. Good value for money for the age of the car and mileage. Handles well on country roads.

It’s a very comfortable, safe and secure vehicle for all type of driver and age. I would never change it for any other model in its category. I would sell it only because I live in Italy now and the steering wheel is on the right side.

Peugeot 308 Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| High-tech interior | Rivals offer better practicality |
| Wide range of engines | Quirky driving position won't suit everybody |
| Affordable running costs | Choppy low speed ride |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot 308 is a stylish and desirable family hatchback that blends contemporary design with modern technology. Available as a hatchback or estate (SW), it offers a high-tech interior with a minimalist dashboard, 10-inch touchscreen, and plush materials. The third-generation model launched in 2022 and received a facelift in late 2025, featuring a comprehensive powertrain range including petrol hybrid, plug-in hybrid, diesel, and fully electric options. All models come with LED headlights, climate control, heated steering wheel, and comprehensive safety features, with higher trims adding Matrix or adaptive LED headlights, keyless entry, and advanced driver assistance systems.
The 308 offers a more engaging drive than expected, with responsive steering and a keen turning response, though the unconventional small steering wheel and minimalist interior layout may not suit everyone. Running costs are competitive, with the hybrid achieving 48.5-62.6mpg and the plug-in hybrid offering 106.9-148.1mpg officially. The fully electric e-308 provides 279 miles of range and supports rapid charging up to 100kW. Whilst rivals offer superior practicality and some deliver more engaging handling, the 308 compensates with its striking styling, refined interior, and reasonable purchase price compared to competitors like the Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia.
Best for: Buyers seeking a stylish, modern family hatchback with excellent interior design, those wanting multiple powertrain options including electric, and drivers comfortable with Peugeot's distinctive driving position.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising maximum boot space, drivers who dislike unconventional steering wheel designs, or buyers seeking the most engaging driving dynamics in the class.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peugeot 308 | 3/5 | 4.9/5 | 50.2% | 4.3/5 |
| Volkswagen Golf | 4/5 | 4.7/5 | 36.8% | 4.5/5 |

| Skoda Octavia | 5/5 | 4.6/5 | 37.3% | 4.6/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the 308 if: You value striking styling and modern interior design, want multiple powertrain options including electric, or seek competitive running costs and purchase prices.
Consider alternatives if: You require maximum practicality, prefer conventional driving positions, or prioritise the finest handling and driving engagement.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot 308 is a compelling choice in the family hatchback segment, offering exceptional styling and a high-tech interior at a competitive price. Whilst the Volkswagen Golf commands a premium for its badge and the Skoda Octavia excels in practicality and driving dynamics, the 308 stands out for its design flair and technology. The Vauxhall Astra is cheaper but lacks the 308's interior refinement. For buyers who appreciate contemporary design and don't mind Peugeot's distinctive driving position, the 308 represents excellent value with its comprehensive powertrain range and affordable running costs.
