Really liking this car so far, it’s exactly what I was looking for and the hybrid side I’m actually surprised about.

Love the Peugout 308 nice to drive, nice interior. Good value for money for the age of the car and mileage. Handles well on country roads.

It’s a very comfortable, safe and secure vehicle for all type of driver and age. I would never change it for any other model in its category. I would sell it only because I live in Italy now and the steering wheel is on the right side.

This was the gti 260 registered 30/12/20. The 3rd Id owned in just over 2 years, great performance car, well equipped & fully loaded as standard, beautiful interior & lovely supporting sports seats. A real wolf in sheeps clothing, comfortable economic & fun to drive.... Will probably buy another!!

Peugeot 308 Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| High-tech interior | Rivals offer better practicality |
| Wide range of engines | Quirky driving position won't suit everybody |
| Affordable running costs | Choppy low-speed ride |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot 308 is a stylish and broadly defined family hatchback that offers an appealing blend of common sense and desirability. Available as a hatchback or estate (SW), it features a high-tech, minimalist interior with a plush cabin that feels classy and modern. The third-generation model, launched in 2022 and facelifted in 2025, represents a significant step upmarket for Peugeot, with sharp styling and a screen-focused dashboard. Buyers can choose from electric, petrol-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or diesel powertrains, with no manual gearbox or all-wheel-drive option available.
The 308 offers a more enthusiastic drive than expected, featuring Peugeot's distinctive small steering wheel for quick steering response and keen cornering. The plug-in hybrid manages 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds, whilst the hybrid achieves the same in 9.3 seconds and the e-308 in 9.8 seconds. Ride comfort is generally good once up to speed, though it can feel choppy over town roads. Running costs are affordable, with the hybrid achieving 48.5-62.6mpg and the plug-in hybrid 106.9-148.1mpg officially. The e-308 offers low running costs if charged regularly at home, with rapid charging up to 100kW available. Service plans start from around £8 per month.
Best for: Buyers seeking a stylish, well-equipped family hatchback with modern technology, those interested in hybrid or electric powertrains, and those who appreciate the extra practicality of an estate body style.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising maximum practicality, drivers uncomfortable with unconventional driving positions, or those seeking the finest handling dynamics in the class.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peugeot 308 | 3/5 | 4.9/5 | 34.4% | 4.2/5 |
| Vauxhall Astra | 3/5 | 4.0/5 | 31.6% | 4.2/5 |

| Skoda Octavia | 5/5 | 4.6/5 | 33.2% | 4.5/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the 308 if: You're seeking a stylish, well-equipped family hatchback with modern technology, interested in hybrid or electric powertrains, or appreciate the extra practicality of an estate body style.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise maximum practicality, are uncomfortable with unconventional driving positions, or seek the finest handling dynamics in the class.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot 308 is a classier and more recommendable choice than ever, offering an appealing blend of style, technology, and affordability. Whilst it may not match the Skoda Octavia for overall capability or the Volkswagen Golf for premium appeal, its high-tech interior, wide engine range, and affordable running costs make it a compelling proposition. The Vauxhall Astra offers similar value at a lower price point, but the 308's superior design and technology justify the premium. The estate variant provides exceptional practicality for families seeking style without compromise.
