Great value and the Ultimate is well equipped with everything that will ever be needed. Hyundai quality has developed and now competes alongside other more costly brands. The 5 year warranty is a big plus. Looking forward to some economical and practical motoring in the Tucson

Hyundai Tucson (2021-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lots of standard kit | Not all that fun to drive |
| Five-year warranty | Unsettled ride on big 19-inch wheels |
| Choice of hybrid powertrains | Plug-in hybrid range not a match for best in class |
Quick Summary
The Hyundai Tucson (2021-present) is a deeply impressive midsize family SUV that represents a significant step up from previous generations. With distinctive styling both inside and out, the Tucson offers generous space for passengers and luggage, boasting one of the largest boots in its class at 620-litres. The post-facelift model from mid-2024 features a striking curved infotainment setup with dual 12.3-inch screens, whilst all models come generously equipped with standard features including leather-wrapped steering wheel, DAB, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satnav, and dual-zone climate control.
The Tucson offers a choice of powertrains including a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine with 148bhp or 178bhp mild-hybrid options, a 227bhp self-charging hybrid, and a 261bhp plug-in hybrid with around 40 miles of electric-only range. It's an easygoing companion on the road, smooth and quiet, though not particularly engaging to drive. Running costs are competitive, with mild-hybrid models achieving 43.5mpg and the plug-in hybrid delivering more than 50mpg on longer journeys. The five-year warranty provides excellent peace of mind.
Best for: Families seeking a spacious, well-equipped SUV with modern technology, those prioritising comfort and practicality, and buyers interested in hybrid powertrains for improved efficiency.
Not ideal for: Drivers wanting an engaging, fun-to-drive experience, those sensitive to ride quality on larger wheels, or buyers seeking the longest plug-in hybrid range in the class.

The Verdict
You should buy the Tucson if: You're seeking a spacious, well-equipped family SUV with modern technology, prioritising comfort and practicality, or interested in hybrid powertrains for improved efficiency.
Consider alternatives if: You want an engaging, fun-to-drive experience, are sensitive to ride quality on larger wheels, or require the longest plug-in hybrid range available in the class.
Competitive Position: The Hyundai Tucson (2021-present) is a strong contender in the midsize family SUV market, offering excellent value, generous standard equipment, and a five-year warranty. Whilst it may not match the Volkswagen Tiguan for driving dynamics or the Kia Sportage for expert rating, the Tucson delivers impressive practicality, modern technology, and a wide choice of efficient powertrains. Its spacious interior, attractive styling, and competitive pricing make it an excellent all-round family SUV for those prioritising comfort and equipment over driving engagement.
